Tech layoffs loom large despite pandemic hiring

Almost 200,000 employees have been let go from technology companies in the last 14 months, shows The Crunchbase News Layoffs Tracker, but it's still a small compared to new hires during the pandemic. For example, layoffs at Amazon, Meta, Alphabet, Microsoft and Salesforce during the previous 14 months equaled 8% of new hires during the pandemic.

An orangutan learned how to nurse by watching a human
Zoe, an orangutan at a zoo in Richmond, Va., needed help breastfeeding after her first baby, Taavi, had to be hand-raised. When Zoe had her second baby, the zoo turned to Whitlee Turner, a zookeeper and new mom, for help. Whitlee breastfeed her own baby in front of Zoe in hopes that Zoe would learn. It took some time, but it worked!
