Boeing Co. plans to cut the production rate of 787 airplanes to 12 per month beginning in late 2020, a reduction that company leadership attributed to the current trade environment between the U.S. and China. Boeing currently produces 14 787s per month between its Everett, Wash., and North Charleston facilities. (Charleston Regional Business Journal)

VanTrust plans 2 Upstate industrial developments

VanTrust Real Estate, headquartered in Kansas City, Mo., has expanded into South Carolina with the purchase of two parcels of industrial land in the Upstate, according to a news release. One parcel is in Spartanburg County, the other is in Anderson County. (GSA Business Report)

Upstate companies get state chamber recognition

Michelin North America will receive the Legends Award from the S.C. Chamber of Commerce at the chamber’s annual summit Nov. 20-21 on the Isle of Palms. The award “recognizes the company, person or institution that has continually and consistently given to South Carolina and its people,” according to a news release. (GSA Business Report)

Career showcase features Manufacturing Day proclamation

S.C. Gov. Henry McMaster joined manufacturers, educators and ninth-graders earlier this month to celebrate manufacturing’s impact on the state during the 2019 Upstate College and Career Showcase in Spartanburg.
