Former Bachelor SA star Marc Buckner is sharing a lesson learned after muggers recently confronted him and his girlfriend, Jo-Marie Harteveld.

Taking to his Instagram Stories on Tuesday, Buckner shared briefly about the scary incident.

"Jo and I decided that instead of taking an Uber home from Green Point, we would take a slow walk home along the main road. We experienced an attempted mugging by 3 guys with knives and golf clubs," he wrote.

Speaking to News24 about the incident on Wednesday, Buckner reveals it happened on "Friday late evening" after they had gone out with a few friends.

"We were headed to Sea Point from Green Point when a guy came up front, and Jo saw him with a little knife. I didn't even see the knife. And then another guy came up from behind with a golf club, and there was a third one on the side, so they formed like a little triangle."

Buckner says Harteveld said something to him, but he walked straight and moved in front of her before she ran across the street to get help.

"I walked right up against the guy with a knife, and then he folded out another knife," Buckner continues.
