Mardi Gras photos and fun

with Matthew Albright | Assistant metro editor

Good morning!

It was a beautiful day for Mardi Gras yesterday. Our reporters and photographers were out all over South Louisiana to capture the festivities.

Check out this story from New Roads, where the town celebrated its 100th Mardi Gras. And we've got galleries of photos from Rex, Argus, and other general bon temps in New Orleans.

You might be wondering why Baton Rouge doesn't have any parades on Fat Tuesday, even though it has other Mardi Gras parades before then. Here's a quick explainer.

Ukraine war hits close to home

A few LSU students who are from Ukraine spent Mardi Gras watching videos of their hometowns being bombed and shelled as Russia invades. They held a small protest outside the State Capitol yesterday, hoping to remind people of the massive suffering and destruction going on in their country.

Drafting a kicker?!

LSU's football team is well-accustomed to players leaving early for the NFL Draft, but it's not every day a kicker does that. In fact, it's rare for kickers to be seen as draft prospects at all.

But Cade York is just that good. Here's how he's trying to do something few college kickers achieve.

Thanks, and have a great day!
