Largely self-taught, Marion's early works focused on impressionist paintings of landscapes and florals. After joining the Creative Visionary Path (CVP) program 2017 with Nicholas Wilton, she transitioned to a bold abstract style. Marion continues to build on her art and is part of the Art and Success Pro Success group with Pamela Caughey. Marion's creative process is a mixture of intentional and spontaneous mark making with bold shapes and colours producing intriguing abstracts when viewed from afar, and with lots of eye entertainment on closer inspection. Her goal is to excite the viewer both from a distance and close-up with visual depth created by using many overlapping layers in her work. "I use colour as a tool to communicate my experiences. Colour plays an essential role in my practices - it determines the feeling of my work. I usually don't have a preconceived idea when I begin and start by adding several layers of colourful paint. As I go, I add texture by scraping, gouging and sanding back to reveal previous layers. Gradually, after the painting comes to life and I have to stay aware of how everything is reacting between the different elements, and guide the process towards the finishing post. The final marks are carefully considered, with awareness that they are the special touches that hold the painting together. I know a painting is finished when it is eye catching from afar but will hold the viewer's attention close-up with intimate details." Marion, originally from the UK, now lives in south-eastern France near Nice. With easy access to the lavender and sunflower fields and the start of the French Alps, the colours and shapes of the area shine through her work.
