SAAM Arcade is Back, Online, and with Something for Everyone!

Game Jam – Monday, August 2, at 11:30 a.m. ET to Saturday, August 7, at 7 p.m. ET
Game Release Day – Sunday, August 8 and beyond!

Join us for our popular annual celebration of innovation and creativity in gaming. Are you a long-time SAAM Arcade fan? An aspiring video game developer? An avid gamer who wants to try the newest independent games as they are being made? Or perhaps you are an art lover interested in learning more about how video games and art intersect. Arcade has something for everyone! Let your creativity flow; SAAM Arcade 2021 is all about Building Community, Embracing Individuality.

New Ways to Participate

This year, enjoy a brand new SAAM Arcade format with two virtual components. First, we will host a week-long game jam from Monday, August 2 to Saturday, August 7. We invite you to get creative and build your own video and tabletop game on itch.iobased on our theme of community and individuality. Then, starting August 8, all games that were created during our inaugural game jam will become available to discover and play. Celebrate the skills and artistry of our SAAM Arcade community and embrace individual expression.

But wait... What exactly is a game jam?

A game jam is an opportunity for communities of developers, artists, designers, writers, and gaming enthusiasts to come together and develop brand new never before seen or played games.Learn more about game jams and our SAAM Arcade 2021 on the blog.
