Hey Traders,
Happy New Year!
The market may not be reflecting the celebratory mood, but there are some interesting things to unpack from the recent selloff.
Controlled Decline
Unlike the volatile selloff in mid-December, this one seems more measured. This suggests potential portfolio adjustments rather than a full-blown market panic.
AAPL Weighing on the Market
Apple (AAPL) seems to be a drag on the overall market, but there are signs that the selling pressure might have subsided by Thursday.
Bonds: The Potential Culprit
If my analysis is wrong, it's likely due to the bond market. I'll keep a close eye on it.
Interesting Trades from Thursday
Here's a quick rundown of some noteworthy trades from Thursday:
Apple (AAPL): A trader is looking to buy AAPL at $133. While I'm not entirely convinced, buying the dip has proven effective for this stock in the past. Interestingly, they opted for selling puts instead of buying calls.
C3.ai (AI): The AI trader remains active, buying to close Jan03 38 calls and opening a Jan 37-41 call spread. This strategy has been profitable so far, but they might be taking on extra risk.
Cipher Mining (CIFR): A bullish call spread in CIFR, suggesting the trader expects the stock to move above $6 and potentially reach $9 by February.
