WEB-FIRST REVIEWS OF BOOKS AND MEDIA

The Hellfire Club Jake Tapper's The Hellfire Club is this week's starred fiction selection. "Tapper (The Outpost), celebrated for his distinguished journalism career, has earned his spurs and white hat in this gunslinging saga through the underbelly of American government. Any District of Columbia fan will recognize his deep knowledge of congressional lore and local geography." The English translation of Annie Ernaux's best-selling 2008 memoir, The Years, is this week's starred nonfiction title. "A memoir that captures nostalgia’s twinge while also documenting the many societal changes that shaped postwar France. Of appeal to readers interested in contemporary French studies." And in e-originals, Rumor Has It, the stand-alone, fourth book in Jessica Lemmon's "Real Love" series, "turns up the friction between [protagonists Catarina Everhart and Barrett Fox] to give their connection some genuine sizzle."
