Martin Parr (*1952) is one of the most influential documentary photographers of our time. In his works, the British photographer explores the social reality: illuminating phenomena such as consumption, tourism or national identity from an entertaining perspective, in so much that the banal, extreme and sometimes unfathomable become apparent in the everyday. The esteemed, award-winning artist is a member of the renowned Magnum photographic agency, which is no stranger to Kunstfoyer VKB, Munich, owing to previous collaborations on several other significant exhibitions.

Souvenir is not only the first retrospective but is concurrently a biographical exhibition, which was also curated by the photographer. This touring exhibition follows on from successful shows in Zurich, Stockholm, and Vienna and celebrates its premiere in Germany at Kunstfoyer VKB, Munich.

Created and curated by Martin Parr, the retrospective encompasses round 200 works from the series’ Last Resort, Bored Couples, Mexico, Scotland, Luxury, Knokke le Zoute, Small world, Think of England, Dance, Autoportraits, and Common Sense. The series Non Conformists is the only early black and white work on display.
