Let's get it started

The entrepreneurship boom continues. According to new data from the Economic Innovation Group, there has been a record number of new business applications through September this year across the country, with 1.4 million filed. That's 409,000 more filings than the same point in the pre-pandemic times of 2019, and 255,000 more than 2020.

With the Great Resignation and the advent of remote work giving people a taste of what a work life with more autonomy can be like, my humble guess is that necessity is the mother of invention for all these new startups.

Did you start a business in 2021? Tell us why. What made you take the plunge? What feels different about 2021, compared to 2020 and 2019, that's leading a lot more people to catch the entrepreneurial bug? Tell us your entrepreneurship story: baltimore@technical.ly.
