How to handle a heat wave
The Twin Cities heat advisory isn't going anywhere. We're likely living through a historically long and early heat wave. It'll be highs in the 90s through Friday, and most of the state will have some combination of hot weather, lower humidity and breezy conditions, which is elevating the fire risk for nearly the whole state.

Protesters block pipeline entrance, chain themselves to Line 3 equipment
More than 1,000 opponents of the Line 3 oil pipeline from all over the United States are congregating in northern in Minnesota for the Treaty People Gathering — a major pipeline protest drawing people from around the country for speeches, rallies and coordinated actions.
By late Monday morning, around two dozen activists locked themselves to construction equipment and others used a boat to block the site's entrance. A United States Customs and Border Protection helicopter flew low near the activists and used its rotor wash to stir up clouds of grass and dirt to disrupt the action. Hours later, law enforcement moved in to remove and arrest.

Ramsey County pulls deputies from task force A U.S. Marshals Service task force shot and killed Winston Boogie Smith, Jr. in Minneapolis Thursday while attempting to arrest him, prompting outcry locally and demands for body camera footage. The Marshals Service claims no footage was recorded because of a rule prohibiting the cameras. Though that rule changed in February to allow body cameras, the Marshals Service has yet to implement the change. Now, Ramsey County Sheriff Bob Fletcher pulled his deputies out of this federal task force due to the lack of body cameras. Read the story.
