MASS SHOOTING: Eleven times in the past 10 years, New Orleans has endured a shooting that wounded or killed four or more people, often indiscrimately. The latest, at the Balcony Bar on Magazine at Harmony streets, is attributed to a months-long dispute between one group of people and a rival they targeted as he left the lounge.

TRANSFORMATION: Trevor Penning, one of the New Orleans Saints first round draft picks, is a 6-foot-7, 325-pound machine fueled by maniacal, nasty intent. But back when he was being recruited to the University of Northern Iowa, and put on a kicker's jersey for a photo, he was so thin that the thing fit him perfectly - no gut sticking out or anything - and looked like it needed to be peeled off with a vice-grip wrench and a dollop of grease.
