Silent night, holey night: Town gets festive with a local problemIf thereâs one thing thatâs the bane of small towns across America, itâs potholes. Everyone hates driving over these things, and their presence is an obvious sign of poor maintenance and infrastructure. To make matters worse, it can take a long time before local officials act to get them filled, so townspeople tend to get creative with pothole problem-solving. McComb, a town in Mississippi, took this idea to festive new heights by filling a local pothole with handmade Christmas decorations. After shoving a traffic cone and a stick into the center of the hole, townspeople gathered around to add decorations, tinsel and even a star to the makeshift tree. It may be a few months before the hole gets repaired, but now the town has a cute little tree to be proud of (and an obvious object for drivers to avoid). âTis the season! You donât need an actual plant to have a Christmas tree. Just look at what these guys did. Tap or click to see the worldâs biggest beer bottle Christmas tree. â |
