We are so proud of the work that we do to educate and empower students to make a difference in their communities. It is an honor to be recognized by California state legislatures for the environmental impacts we are driving.

Making Waves to Protect the Ocean

This Little Light Sparks Connections

The students at Mary Bragg Elementary in Cerritos, California and GSS Tudunwada in Abuja, Nigeria continue to build connections while interacting with each other abroad. In partnership with This Little Light Africa, students from both schools have shared about their cultures while planning environmental projects through emails, videos, and interactive activities. Both teams look forward to meeting together for the first time LIVE on Zoom on May 18th. Together, the students will pursue ideas on how to beautify and green their learning spaces. We can't wait to see what these teams accomplish working together across the globe!

Live More and Waste Less

Cooking Up Less Food Waste

Eco-Leaders from Grades of Green are taking action from coast to coast to make an everlasting environmental impact. The students at Nathaniel Hawthorne Middle School in Bayside, New York have been working to implement a food donation station at their school. However, local laws have prevented the team from fully implementing this project, which led them to speak with their local government. The students have gained support from local community members and state senators to approve food donations taking place in New York City Schools.

Toolkit of the Month: Campus Food Rescue

This issue's Toolkit of the Month is inspired by our fearless Eco-Leaders from Nathaniel Hawthorne Middle School. Despite the obstacles in their way, they are trying to reduce their carbon footprint, lower their waste production, and share leftover food with those who need it most. Join them by doing your own version of Campus Food Rescue.
You can find plenty of fun and impactful Eco-Toolkits available through Grades of Green's Launch program. Educators and students use these flight-ready project toolkits to create long-lasting environmental impact — and so can you!
