Frayed relationship: Feuds between mayors and council members in New Orleans aren't exactly rare. But longtime City Hall watchers say they can't remember seeing things as bad as they are now between Mayor LaToya Cantrell and the council. Sophie Kasakove and Ben Myers have this report.
An Avondale tale: Port of South Louisiana officials are bullish on the prospects for the former Avondale Shipyard site, so much so that they're pushing to buy the facility from T. Parker Host for more than $360 million. Using public records from Louisiana Economic Development, we've taken a look at the handful of deals that were almost closed for the site since 2018. Last resort: Louisiana Citizens Property Insurance Corp., the state's insurer of last resort, is carrying four times as many policyholders as it did when our most recent insurance crisis began two years ago.
