'Normality is a luxury': how limited leave to remain blights young lives Young migrant activists from Let Us Learn have published a report which lays out the experiences of 14 young people and how the hostile environment and their temporary immigration status have blighted their lives. The report contains vital testimony from young people trapped within the immigration system. Read it in full here. To help maximise the impact of this report, please consider sending it to your MP and tweeting using the hastags #AffordableFeesFairTreatment and #WeBelong. Happy 70th birthday legal aid! This week legal aid turned 70 years old, and the Ministry of Justice finally published regulations which, once law, will mean separated migrant children in care (no matter what their status) can access legal advice for free. Together with our friends at Just for Kids Law, MiCLU, the Children's Society and Islington Law Centre we've produced a practical briefing on accessing legal aid for these children; read about it here. We've also updated our fact sheets to reflect this change: take a look at our re-written fact sheets on finding an solicitor for a child and legal aid and exceptional case funding.
