Click here Thursday, 22 April 2021 MEDIA ADVISORY Date and Time: Friday 23 April from 1500 to 16:30 CEST Subject: Special press conference on One Year Anniversary of the Access to COVID-19 (ACT) Accelerator Co-Founders of the ACT-Accelerator, Facilitation Council Co-Chairs and Principals from partner agencies will come together to reflect on progress, challenges ahead and the path forward in the fight against COVID-19. In one year, the ACT-Accelerator has made significant strides in the development and equitable distribution of millions of diagnostic kits, vaccines doses and treatment. However, with a rapidly mutating virus, more must be done to bring about the end to the acute phase of the pandemic. Following a message from WHO Director General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, there will be pre-recorded and live speeches from ACT-Accelerator’s founders and supporters, including from: The President of the European Commission, Dr Ursula von der Leyen;The United Nations Deputy Secretary-General, Ms Amina J Mohammed;President of France, Mr Emmanuel Macron;Video messages from other Heads of State, CSO Community and Industry partners.President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa, in his capacity as the ACT-Accelerator’s Facilitation Council Co-Chair, will be speaking live on the challenges and needs for the ACT-Accelerator. Dag Inge Ulstein, Norway’s Minister for International Development, will speak on behalf of the Prime Minister of Norway and Facilitation Council Co-Chair, Ms Erna Solberg.
