Click here Thursday, 23 June 2022 MEDIA ADVISORY UPDATES on first International Health Regulations (2005) Emergency Committee regarding the monkeypox outbreak The list of members of the first meeting of the Emergency Committee (EC) regarding the multi-country monkeypox outbreak has been published on WHO's website. The Director-General's remarks will be published here. The meeting, convened by the WHO Director-General under the International Health Regulations (2005), started just after 12:00 pm CEST on 23 June. It is a closed meeting. The EC statement will be shared with media once it is posted on WHO's website, together with links to photo and video material from the meeting at HQ in Geneva. At this point the official EC statement is not expected before Friday, 24 June. Please check for photo updates here. The Emergency Committee will advise the WHO Director-General on whether the event constitutes a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC). If so, it will propose Temporary Recommendations on how to better prevent and reduce the spread of the disease and manage the global public health response. ************ There have been 9 IHR emergency committees so far, including two ongoing ones on polio and COVID-19.
