Through the week, WHO and partners will be hosting a range of events including a session on WHO’s Essential Medicines List Antibiotic Book on 18th; a webinar on preventing and controlling infection in maternity care on 19th and a panel discussion on developing new treatments for drug-resistant infections. On 24 November, WHO will issue a new report on drug-resistant HIV. For the full list of events through the week, and to find campaign materials, please go to: https://www.who.int/campaigns/world-antimicrobial-awareness-week/2021 WAAW partners are also challenging individuals, organizations and communities to ‘Go blue for AMR’ - wearing light blue clothing and lighting up facilities and landmarks throughout the week and especially on 24 November. Antimicrobial Resistance affects every country in the world. It occurs when bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites change over time and no longer respond to medicines making infections harder to treat and increasing the risk of disease spread, severe illness and death.
