Media Winners & Losers

MEDIA WINNER:
Texas Media

Today we aren't naming a winner but rather recognizing an effort that is praisewothy under tragic circumstances.

Many of the largest media outlets in Texas will go silent online Tuesday for 21-minutes — one minute for every victim of last week’s massacre at a school in Uvalde.

The Dallas Morning News reported outlets across the state will go quiet to honor 19 children and two teachers who were killed by a gunman at Robb Elementary School.

The 21 minutes of silence will begin at 12:00 p.m. CT.

Katrice Hardy, writing for the Morning News, reported: “We’re asking you to silence your social accounts Tuesday from noon until 12:21 p.m. so the people of Uvalde can feel our support from all over Texas.” Hardy added.

"Partners joining the moment of silence include: Texas Rangers, FC Dallas, Texas Metro News, Houston Chronicle, The Texas Tribune, Austin American-Statesman, San Antonio Express-News, My San Antonio, Texas Public Radio in San Antonio, KERA North Texas, KUT Austin, Marfa Public Radio, Texas Tech Public Media, Texas Standard, Brownsville Herald and The Monitor," the Dallas Morning News explains.

KSAT in San Antonio tweeted that they will also participate,

It's a solemn effort to pay respects and share grief over an immense and unfathomable loss.

MEDIA LOSER:
Emerald Robinson

Donald Trump's Save America PAC email blasted out a substack post from Emerald Robinson on Tuesday claiming that Brian Kemp's victory in the Republican gubernatorial primary is "suspect."

Under the headline "Something Stinks In Georgia" and the subhead "The GOP primary numbers are funny because the votes were rigged," the former Newsmax reporter argued that Trump's endorsements always work. and therefore when his endorsement doesn't work it must ipso facto be fraud.

"President Trump’s endorsement is the single most powerful force in the universe of American politics," she says at the start before going into how Trump candidates fared elsewhere.

David Perdue lost to Kemp by a wide and telling margin. Though many fellow conservatives saw it as a statement from the electorate, Robinson holds that margin out as itself a sign of chicanery. She claims nobody wins that big.

She concludes by urging readers to ask themselves "it is possible" the polling was off and Trump's all-powerful endorsement didn't work? She then answers for them: "No, it’s not."

The diallelus went out to the Save America PAC email list with an ICYMI, and thus the circle was complete. Trump never fails. So every Trump fail is a lie. Signed, Dear Leader Press.

He's Taking Credit

Never has there been a more reliable observation than that Donald Trump is taking credit for something. You can make it sight unseen, and count on it whether credit is due or not. And in Herschel Walker's case, it sounds like not.

Walker, the former NFL running back who has been endorsed by Trump, told rapper Killer Mike in a wide-ranging interview on Revolt TV that he did not run for office because Trump asked him to.

“One thing that people don’t know is President Trump never asked me. I need to tell him that he never asked. I heard it all on television that he’s going to ask Herschel, saying Hershel is going to run,” Walker said. “President Trump never came out and said ‘Herschel, will you run for that Senate seat?'”

“So, I’m mad at him, because he never asked, but he’s taking credit that he asked,” Walker said.

He then explained what actually motivated his run.

What's NATO?

“It’s like, my show is for grownups who know things — sorry, but like the kids — I mean, last week we talked about the ACLU and NATO. I just wouldn’t want to survey a group of people your age and ask them what they thought about the ACLU and NATO,” said Bill Maher to Adam Waheed, an actor boasting 16.3 million followers on TikTok

“I don’t even know what that is,” Waheed admitted.

“Exactly,” Maher said. “And you’re a bright guy and I blame the schools for that because you should.”

“I know NATO,” Waheed backtracked. “I don’t know what it stands for but I know NATO.”

“Do you know what it does?” Maher pressed.

And then it got really hilarious. And ugh.
