Behold the Bootstrapper: Sarah Frey’s Journey from 80 Acres to a Seven-State Operation
 
Sarah Frey grew up on a struggling farm in southern Illinois. At 15, she started a fresh produce delivery business out of an old pickup truck. Two years later she took over the family farm and started doing business with the largest grocery retailers in the country. Today, Frey Farms is the nation’s leading producer of pumpkins, earning Frey the nickname “America’s Pumpkin Queen.” Enjoy this bootstrapper's story.

To commemorate his 60th trip around the sun, Duane Hansen set a new world record. Hansen, of Syracuse, Neb., grew a pumpkin that clocked in at 846 lb. (and appropriately named it Berta). He hollowed it out to create a makeshift boat. Gourdspeed Duane, gourdspeed.
