| | The realest RealLIST Hello again, Baltimore. It's Tuesday, but you already knew that. It seems like the story we published yesterday about Black Baltimore founders' difficulties securing local funding here struck a nerve with many of you, because we got more responses to that piece and my note about it than anything this year (maybe not that interesting when we're only 10 days into 2023, but still). If you've yet to read it, you can see it below. You'll also see two new stories that reflect just how much commitments to DEI principles do matter in our city and region. One highlights the diversity-in-pipelines-focused workforce training company Catalyte's acquisition of a digital marketing firm, which leaders described as bringing Catalyte's model for training workers from underrepresented groups to the digital media field. The other lists the 10 companies (five local, five from elsewhere in the US) that comprise the Techstars Equitech Accelerator's latest cohort. Taken together, both of these stories suggest that there are enough entities invested in making our city a more economically robust and socially equitable place that it could actually happen in our lifetimes. In the meantime, I am always interested in our publication highlighting those companies that have bright futures thanks to diversity- and equity-minded principles, whether in the way the operate or the products they create (or, ideally, both). In that spirit, I'm spending this month putting together the latest roster of RealLIST Startups, and would love to hear what local startups you think we should consider. If you got one in mind (or are part of one yourself), let us know at baltimore@technical.ly, and thanks. — Technical.ly editor Sameer Rao (sameer@technical.ly) | | | Top Stories | By The technology workforce training company is using the acquisition to provide talent for the digital media industry.
