That’s John Redfern’s rousing pitch for his company, Eavor. But instead of drilling for oil or into asteroids, the entrepreneur’s recent endeavor is set on drilling miles of wells deep into the Earth to prove the case for a renewable energy source that could change the world as we know it: geothermal.

“We’ve had at least two false dawns when you might have thought geothermal would be the next big thing,” he told us. Now, he says, Eavor has finally cracked the code. Is it a global breakthrough? Or too good to be true?
