Meet the folks behind BrainHQ It's Small Business Saturday Dear Voornaam,
Have you heard about Small Business Saturday? It's a day for people to shop at small businesses in their community. You may not have given thought to what kind of a business Posit Science is, or to the people who make BrainHQ—so we wanted to share some of our small company's people, culture, and history with you in honor of this day.
We are proud to have built a team of scientists, designers, and business leaders who are committed to Posit Science's mission. Out of our team of 34, we have 12 PhDs on our staff. We also collaborate with dozens of other leading scientists around the globe.
Some of our employees have been here since the company's inception in 2003—and many more have celebrated 8, 9, 10, or 11 year anniversaries with us. It's fun and energizing to be surrounded by our smart and creative co-workers, continuously striving to bring brain health to our customers and partners.
 BrainHQ is made by Posit Science, a company that was founded by Dr. Michael Merzenich and Jeff Zimman in San Francisco in 2003. Mike had come to San Francisco in the early 1970s to take a job as a neuroscientist at the University of California San Francisco, and had raised his family in the city. Jeff—a lawyer by training—had lived in the city for decades, too.
 The two started the company in Jeff's spare bedroom, where they worked for nearly a year on the best way to create a company that would use scientific research and evidence-based methods to improve brain health. The company’s first partner was a retirement community in the city. Since those early days, the team has worked out of an office in downtown San Francisco, with Mike and Jeff still coming to work every day. Our CEO Henry Mahncke has been with the company since day one, and has led it for the past five years. Under his leadership, the BrainHQ family is stronger than ever.
 Since Posit Science was founded 13 years ago, there have been some ups and downs in the world of brain training. We’ve seen companies with a lot of money and flashy advertisements pass through. But we started this field, and we're here to stay. We believe in our science, and think people should have access to it—so they can work toward a happier, healthier brain. We are a small group of dedicated, passionate, science-focused people who love what we do. We are proud to bring brain health to our partners and customers.
