A possible $2M for your cyber company

You may have seen the name DataTribe on our site this week, with regard to it helping Fianu Labs secure $2 million in seed funding.

Well, if you or a friend has a cybersecurity startup, you could get some coin, too. DataTribe is hosting the 2023 Cybersecurity Startup Challenge for innovative cybersecurity startups seeking pre-Series A funding. The submission deadline is Sept. 23. The challenge aims to identify startups disrupting cybersecurity and data science. Three finalists will share a $20,000 prize while one winner could receive up to $2 million in seed funding.

In the past five years, DataTribe invested in six challenge winners. Last year's winner, BalanceTheory, secured $3 million in December 2022; the 2019 winner, Code Dx, being acquired by Synopsys in 2021.

DataTribe will evaluate submissions based on technical excellence, market potential and team readiness. On Oct. 12, up to three finalists will be announced, and they will have two weeks to refine their pitches with guidance from DataTribe's startup veterans. The final pitching event, where finalists present their ideas and answer judges' questions, will take place on Nov. 2.
