Prime Hydration is arguably the first beverage in South Africa to gain cult status.
According to the website, the hydration drink was created by YouTubers and former boxing rivals Logan Paul and KSI in 2022.
Promoted as a sports drink, Prime Hydration has, over the past year, with its limited availability marketing strategy, achieved a cult status among Gen Z, with many happy to part with up to a whopping R450 to own a 500ml bottle.
That is until the drink officially launched in South Africa at Shoprite's Checkers and Checkers Hyper stores for a mere R39.99 on Monday.
So, who are the two celebs behind the famous hydration drink?
Olajide Olayinka Williams "JJ" Olatunji
KSI, born Olajide Olayinka Williams 'JJ' Olatunji in London on 19 June 1993, is a YouTuber, rapper and boxer.
According to Sporting News, his social media career started in 2008 when he began uploading gaming commentary regarding the FIFA video game. He has since started promoting his music on the channel and has racked up more than 24 million subscribers.
Logan Paul
Logan Alexander Paul, born in Westlake, Ohio, in the US on 1 April 1995, is a social media personality, actor, and professional wrestler.
Forbes ranked Paul ninth on their list of highest-paid YouTube stars in 2022, with his earnings totalling $18 million (just over R330 million).
