She was "really nervous" to speak out

Hello, Royal Watchers,
It's been a somber week for Americans and people across the globe as we deal with the fallout of the police killing of George Floyd and the ensuing protests in solidarity with the Black community and all the men and women who have died and suffered at the hands of police brutality and systemic racism.
What does this have to do with the royals, you're wondering? Well, the Duchess of Sussex, who as you all know is still a member of the Royal Family even though she's not a working member, has spoken out about Floyd's death this week at a virtual graduation ceremony for her former high school.
Markle, who is biracial, has a lot of experience dealing with racism against her, not just during her time as a senior royal but in her previous life, as an actress. In a recently unearthed video, which we share the link to below, and filmed before she met Prince Harry, Markle talks about being "personally affected by racism." As the daughter of a Black woman, she would know.
So today, and every day, we're holding space for our Black brothers and sisters, and are learning how we can be better allies.
Take care and be safe, Royal Watchers 👑👑 |
