CAM Filmmaker Series Tom Priestley, ASC The Thomas Crown Affair Thursday, March 28, 6:30PM - FREE CAM aims to recognize and give voice to our local filmmaking community and illuminate the 35-plus years of film heritage we have enjoyed in North Carolina. Each film will be presented by one of our own resident filmmakers and followed up with a Q&A session. Our series kicks off with The Thomas Crown Affair (1999, 113 min. rated R). Wilmington's own Tom Priestley, ASC, Director of Photography for the film, will be present to offer opening comments and will answer your questions at the end of the screening. Priestley is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, The Directors Guild of America, and the American Society of Cinematographers.

Literary Philip Gerard 'The Last Battleground' Book Launch Sunday, April 7, 3:00 PM Free and open to the public Join Philip Gerard for the launch of The Last Battleground: The Civil War Comes to North Carolina. Philip will share insights into his research and writing process and read from the book. Then Dargan Frierson (bass and harmony) will join Philip as they perform Civil War songs. A book signing and reception will follow the program. Philip Gerard is a Professor in the Department of Creative Writing at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. His previous books include Down the Wild Cape Fear.

Pro Musica Duo Sureño and Friends
Thursday, April 11, 7:00 PM CAM Members/students: $12.00 Non-Members: $17.00 UNCW students with valid ID: Free Pro Musica Concert Series--in its eighth season--celebrating the works of living composers, will present a concert performed by "Duo Sureño and Friends". Joining Nancy King, soprano and Robert Nathanson, guitar, will be violinist Livia Sellin and guitarist Helmut Jasbar both from Vienna, Austria. The concert will include two world premieres, Love Poem with a Knife, by William Neil and Kaddish: Four Sephardic Songs by Helmut Jasbar. William Neil's works have mesmerized audiences at Pro Musica for the last two seasons. The text of Love Poem with a Knife, written by the emerging and award-winning poet Kara Jackson, explores the essence of invisibility, the authentic elements of language, and divine womanhood.
