In the late 80s and early 90s, Jodie Cooper and Pauline Menczer were among the best surfers in the world.

But it was hard to be a woman — let alone one who was gay — in that era's conservative and homophobic surfing culture.

On the podcast Days Like These, hear Jodie and Pauline talk about what it was like to push back against the tide, and how things have changed for women in the sport since then.
