  The Mendocino Complex fire, fueled by dry vegetation and hot, windy weather, has become California’s largest wildfire, authorities said on Monday. The fire, two separate blazes burning a few miles apart, has scorched 283,800 acres and is only 30 percent contained, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. It has surpassed last year’s Thomas Fire that burned more than 281,000 acres.
