Facility offers help for pregnant and postpartum women in mental crisis

Much-needed help: In Louisiana, 1 in 5 women are estimated to suffer from mental disorders during pregnancy or shortly after birth. The state has a shortage of all inpatient mental health beds, and none that cater to pregnant women.

However, Woman’s Hospital will introduce the state's first inpatient mental health unit for pregnant and postpartum women next month.
