MEP Awards 2016: striving for excellence

On 16 November 2016 at the 10th Annual MEP Middle East Awards Ceremony the construction industry’s market leaders acknowledged and recognized the innovations and developments of the industry during 2016 and discussed the outlook for the next year.

The ceremony featured more than 300 representatives from the mechanical, electrical and plumbing sector, who gathered at the Westin Mina Seyahi Hotel in Dubai to summarize the results of 2016 and highlight the excellence in construction projects. The reputable jury recognized outstanding achievements across 16 categories, including Retrofit project (Arabian MEP), Mechanical project (BK Gulf), Electrical project (Black & White Engineering), Supplier (Leminar Air Conditioning Company), Contractor (Trans Gulf Electromechanical) and Consultancy (Atkins) of the year.

Interpipe, one of the UAE’s major suppliers of steel pipes for the construction industry, joined the event as a Silver Sponsor.

Commenting on the event, Andrey Burtsev, Interpipe Commercial Director said: “MEP Middle East Awards is a key event on the annual calendar, offering us an opportunity to meet leading industry professionals face-to-face. We were pleased to present the award to one of the best engineers in the industry – Mr. Muayyad Abu Khashabeh from BK Gulf.

“We would also like to congratulate all 2016 winners and wish you success for the future,” continued Burtsev. “2017 will have its challenges, but as the UAE steps up preparation for Expo 2020, there will be a number of innovative projects to deliver, requiring a dependable and high quality supply chain. As a market leader in the manufacture of high quality pipes for bearing structures and HVAC systems, Interpipe is excited about the opportunity to help deliver these projects,” Andrey Burtsev, concluded.

Analysts forecast that Expo 2020 will improve the performance of the construction industry in the GCC in 2017. Despite falls in oil prices and the stunt in the global economic recovery, the market is predicted to grow by 4% (USD$45 billion)  in 2017 as compared to predictions for 2016.
