Dear Friends,

Welcome! With a renewed sense of hope and purpose, the Harvard Art Museums team wishes you peace and good health in 2021.

As our museum family continues to grow globally, engaged by the virtual programs we shared in 2020, I want to offer an update on plans for the spring. Our continued collaboration and planning with university leadership to keep students, campus, and community safe will help us determine next steps over the course of this year. Given current circumstances, we have good reason to expect that the museums will remain closed for most or all of the spring semester.

While there is uncertainty about when exactly we will be able to reopen our doors, rest assured that the team will be ready with a warm greeting whenever that time comes! We are truly exhilarated by the prospect of inviting visitors back to the museums as soon as we can do so safely.

In the meantime, we continue to offer a different kind of welcome through a rich and creative array of online programs and digital content. In a profoundly changed world, the new and powerful ways we have learned to connect with each other will endure, evolve, and gain momentum. We have seen that virtual access to museum collections and experiences can break down traditional obstacles to inclusion and participation, while also allowing us to be nimble in exploring timely subjects.

If you haven’t yet had the chance, please visit our Museums from Home page, where you’ll find something for everyone—new content is being added all the time! You can also catch a glimpse into our virtual environment in this newvideo. We look forward to seeing you online and often.

Be well,

Martha Tedeschi
