  USA TODAY found that since #MeToo began, elected officials across the country passed 261 laws that directly addressed topics championed by the movement, just a slight uptick from the 238 addressing sexual abuse and misconduct in the year prior. Our analysis reveals many of the laws have been limited in scope and few new laws substantially removed barriers for sexual violence victims to report or increased accountability for perpetrators and employers.
