BY DOUG GRAHAM | Staff writer New leadership: With LaMont Cole off to his new job as superintendent for Baton Rouge public schools, the Metro Council moved to replace him as mayor-president pro tempore. After some discussion, District 1 council member Brandon Noel, a Republican, to preside over the body. The council also selected a new representative to serve out Cole's term in representing District 7. Read who will take over those duties. Home building: A new artificial coral reef will cover 10,000 square feet in Barataria Bay north of Grand Isle, offering a new habitat for sport fish and smaller organisms. Dubbed “Cajun coral,” the reef was created in part thanks to a $100,000 donation by Raising Cane’s founder Todd Graves. Read about how the reef was designed.
