A group of Metro Council members is suing East Baton Rouge Parish

Five members of the East Baton Rouge Parish Metro Council and two other city-parish residents are suing the city-parish, claiming that the new district map dilutes the power of Black voters and is in violation of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Read the full story. 


The Louisiana Board of Pardons and Committee on Parole has granted a man convicted of murder in Baton Rouge parole nearly 26 years after he was sentenced to life in prison. The mother of the victim told him, "I forgave you years ago. And I’m pretty sure if Derrick was here today, he would forgive you.” 

This man was one of 70 prisoners that former Gov. John Bel Edwards granted clemency to during his final months in office. Read the full story.
