NATIONAL: After the cancellation of IMEX Frankfurt, the organization has announced PlanetIMEX, a virtual experience that will launch May 6 and run for several months. The space will feature 3-D, interactive "islands" inspired by the world of online gaming: a beach-theme community island, a forest-inspired education island, and a networking island with mountains and canyons. Seltzer Land, the first nationally touring hard seltzer festival, has postponed its April and May events. The immersive experience featuring tastings of 100-plus hard seltzers will begin tentatively in Philadelphia on July 25, making stops in cities across the U.S. like Denver, Boston, New York, and more. DALLAS/FORT WORTH: Artisanal whiskey brand TX Whiskey is sponsoring "Whiskey Sour Happy Hour," an online variety show to benefit MusiCares’ COVID-19 Relief Fund and Direct Relief that will debut April 22. Hosted by Ed Helms, Whiskey Sour Happy Hour will feature music, comedy, and interviews. It will be streamed on thebluegrasssituation.com, YouTube, and Facebook with new shows broadcast every Wednesday through May 13. LOS ANGELES: The Los Angeles Latino Film Festival is moving online with LALIFF Connect. The free, virtual festival, which takes place May 5 to 31, will allow attendees to stream feature films and shorts plus a variety of masterclasses and live musical performances. SAN DIEGO: Comic-Con International has been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. The 50-year-old event, originally scheduled for July, draws about 130,000 attendees per year. |
