Signature Member, American Academy Of Equine Art, Georgetown, KY. Born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Michelle Grant has been working professionally as an artist since 1994. Her first artistic experiences date back to the age of three, when she first discovered the magic of paint and pencils. She presently works in a contemporary realistic style, working in oils, acrylic and graphite. She is a graduate of the Alberta College of Art (1987), and Signature Member of the American Academy of Equine Art, based in Lexington, Kentucky. Horses have long been her passion and figure prominently in her work. Her inspiration comes from owning horses, and attending a multitude of horse related events, capturing photographic reference for her paintings. Michelle has exhibited in the Calgary Stampede's Western Art Show & Auction for many years and garnered the distinguished 2012 Artistic Achievement Award. She was selected to create the Calgary Stampede's 100th year commemorative gold and silver coins for the Royal Canadian Mint. She has participated in many fundraiser "Quick Draws" for the Calgary Stampede, Rodeo Royal and the CM Russell Art Show in Montana. She was commissioned by the Calgary Stampede's President, Bill Gray, to create his vision for the prestigious Calgary Stampede 2016 poster. Titled "Born To Buck", the painting features three mares and three foals, selectively bred for their athleticism and aptitude to buck. The Calgary Stampede is world renown for their Born To Buck program. Art instruction is one of her strengths, with her teaching adult art lessons and conducting workshops since the mid-1990's. She presently teaches at Swinton's Art Instruction & Supply. The consistent quality of her work has resulted in its' collection by both private and corporate clients. Her work has received numerous awards in both Canada and the United States. She is presently represented by The Avens Gallery, Canmore, Alberta, Canada, and Frame Of Reference Fine Art, Whitefish, Montana, USA.
