Barbara Hoffert photo Register for the 2018 BookExpo Galley & Signing Guide
Barbara Hoffert - @barbarahoffert

With spring upon us, BookExpo cannot be far behind. And that means the BookExpo galley guide is on its way. Given the number of publishers and the array of titles and authors at the show, we believe that having a map that helps attendees weave their way through the aisles at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center is essential. From Elliot Ackerman’s Waiting for Eden and Mona Hanna-Attisha’s What the Eyes Don’t See to David Small’s Home After Dark and Lisa Scottoline’s Feared to Ruth Ware’s The Death Of Mrs. Westaway and Susan Orlean’s The Library Book, there are so many books to discover. Register now for the 2018 Book Expo Galley & Signing Guide.

cover of Rose's The Museum of Modern LOVE Franzen, Lethem, Oates, & More | Barbara’s Picks
Jonathan Lethem does mystery, Joyce Carol Oates does time travel, and Jonathan Franzen and Amos Oz step outside of fiction to offer essay collections. My big discovery this month: Heather Rose's The Museum of Modern Love, a Christina Stead and Stella Prize–winning book, the Australian author's first adult book published in America, that's inspired by a 2010 work by performance artist Marina Abramović.
Jack Ryan, Jack Reacher, Dirk Pitt, Laurie Moran, James Bond, Alex Cross—lots of familiar names from familiar authors for thriller readers this month. I'm trusting, however, that the thrills will feel as fresh as ever.
