Microchip TimeProvider Helps Protect Networks Against GNSS Vulnerabilities

Microchip recently released software version 2.1.10 for its TimeProvider® 4100 precision timing grandmaster to help 5G mobile providers, cable operators and utility providers ensure phase delivery, protection and synchronization even when the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) is offline, jammed or spoofed.

Version 2.1.10 main new feature is enhanced PRTC (ePRTC).

Enhanced PRTC (ePRTC) helps protect telecom and mobile networks against GNSS vulnerabilities. TP4100 ePRTC produces its own timescale which is driven by Cesium frequency standards and aligned with GNSS time. The TimeProvider 4100 ePRTC delivers an autonomous, secure and fault tolerant reference for time, phase and frequency synchronization.
