The Snip & Sketch app has been a part of every Windows 10 release since version 1809, and it's a welcome addition, bringing easy screenshot capabilities to the base operating system. Press Windows key + Shift + S to open the app in the background, and choose one of its four screen-capture modes: Rectangular, Freeform, Window, or Fullscreen. After completing a capture, you can annotate it, share it, or save it.
But the Snip & Sketch app does a few extra tricks, if you know where to look.
For starters, opening the app and using the options under the New menu allows you to delay a screenshot for three seconds or 10 seconds, long enough for you to pull down a menu or otherwise arrange the display to reflect exactly what you want to capture.
Next, click More (the three dots in the upper right corner of the app), and then click Settings to adjust some other options. You can configure the app to remind you to save each snip, for example, or add an outline (in a color and thickness of your choosing). The best option, though, is a shortcut that takes you to the Windows 10 Settings app, where you can redefine the PrtScn key to instantly start a screen capture. | Every technology brings its own specialized terminology—and that includes computer graphics.
