“The Legend of White Nose Pete”

BOB ROMANO is back this week with the story of a fish that has risen to the level of myth in Maine folklore. "Brook trout measured in pounds rather than inches are not uncommon in the Rangeley Lakes Region of western Maine, but there is one fish that stands out above all the rest." Read “The Legend of White Nose Pete."

Spencer Durrant reviews two fly rods from Snowbee USA this week: the Prestige G-XS and the Denny Rickards Signature Stillwater Rod. Both rods deserve a close look, Spencer says, not only because of their price/performance values, but for their purpose-built designs.

In preparation for grasshopper season, Tim Flagler demonstrates how to tie a Mop Hopper this week. "The mop," notes Flagler, "actually sucks up the floatant and keeps the fly extremely buoyant for extended periods of time."

MICHAEL KEATON ON ACTING AND FLY FISHING

"I would tell people, it wasn’t exactly the hippest thing back then. I would tell friends of mine and they would laugh. They just didn’t know what I was talking about or they would think I was being funny. If they had any knowledge of it they assumed that given my personality that I was joking, but that was obviously not the thing I would do. What I don’t think they got, now people kind of get it, is it’s the one place you can drift off but at the same time be totally locked in simultaneously. You know what I mean?" Listen now...
