Midlands Gives sees nearly 64% increase in donations

The Central Carolina Community Foundation reported more than $3.32 million was raised during the day-long push this year, compared to $2.03 million the previous year, representing a nearly 64% year-over-year increase.

Robert Wilcox is stepping down from the University of South Carolina School of Law. He said he took satisfaction in helping to lower tuition for in-state students, working with state legislators for a $5,100 reduction in tuition and changing the perception that the law school was overpriced in the market.

Benefitfocus lays off 250 people

Benefitfocus said it is laying off 17% of its U.S. workforce, a total of 250 employees, in response to the impact that COVID-19 is having on its business. The Charleston-based company also has locations in Greenville, Oklahoma and Wisconsin.
