Hello from Titletown, aka Green Bay, Wis., and welcome to the Saints Insider newsletter for Thursday, Aug. 18. The Saints and Green Bay Packers held another joint practice on Wednesday afternoon before an enthusiastic crowd at Ray Nitschke Field, across the street from Lambeau Field. Here's what we have for today: The Saints and Packers held a second set of joint practices on Wednesday, and beat reporter Luke Johnson reports that the Saints defense had the upper hand against Packers Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers. It was a win for everyone, Johnson reports. Saints quarterback Jameis Winston continued to work his way back from a foot injury but will not play against the Packers on Friday night, Waack reports. I opined in a column about the importance of Marcus Davenport, a guy who Saints players and coaches say has the most "freakish" talent of any player on the roster. "There's nothing he can't do," Saints assistant defensive line coach Brian Young said. If you're wondering how to watch the game on Friday night, Patrick Magee has all the details, including TV and streaming service information. Our Saints beat team will have plenty of more coverage as the Saints continue preparation for their exhibition game against the Packers on Friday night. Cheers, Jeff Duncan |
