Dear Yogi,

Yogas Chitta Vritti Nirodha. Perhaps you’ve heard it in a yoga class or even spoken it yourself (it’s really fun to say!).

In Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, yoga is defined as Chitta Vritti Nirodha. This broadly means stilling the 'fluctuations' of our mind so that we can experience and be with life as it actually is rather than how we think it should be.

Removing the fluctuations of the mind may seem impossible because the mind is always thinking – yoga offers a variety of practices to help us quiet our thoughts, which leads to more mental peace. Learn some of these methods in our classes and articles below!
