| To avoid a conflict of interest, church board members and leaders must disclose when personal interests interfere with objective decision-making on behalf of the organization they serve. Do you have a written policy about this? Any church leader can be vulnerable to potential conflicts. Policies raise awareness and standardize disclosure procedures. Without them in place, a conflict of interest can undermine leadership credibility, sour group dynamics, and provoke sanctions and legal actions. Conflicts of Interest policies and Disclosure Documents should include: ⢠How you define a conflict of interest. ⢠How a board member discloses a potential conflict. ⢠What steps the Board must take to limit a conflict. Check to see how your current policies and disclosure documents match up. Download our Conflicts of Interest sample policies for FREE.
