We’re back to more spring-like weather! The blustery winds of Thursday are gone now, and higher temps will melt most of the remaining snow cover up north. Minneapolis weighs ramifications of $20M settlement in Ruszczyk case
In the week since the $20 million settlement with Justine Ruszczyk's family was announced, city officials have been weighing its effect on how Minneapolis will negotiate ongoing and future police misconduct lawsuits. And it sets a new standard by which lawyers will measure future misconduct cases.

Citing health, Freeman says he'll take time off from prosecutor's office
"My doctor and others have suggested that I need some time away from the high stress" of the office, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman said Friday, adding he'll take "several weeks" off.

Tasers are less reliable than their maker has claimed. The results can be deadly
An APM Reports investigation finds that officers in some big cities rated Tasers as unreliable up to 40 percent of the time, and in three large departments, newer models were less effective than older ones. In 258 cases over three years, a Taser failed to subdue someone who was then shot and killed by police.
 
Minnesota took in $489 million more than expected in April
The monthly update on Minnesota tax collections showed them 17 percent higher than anticipated for April.
