🌡️ Temperatures will be close to normal across southern Minnesota today, mostly in the 20s with some low 30s in southwest Minnesota. Northern Minnesota will be considerably colder with single digits in the northwest.
❄️ Snow develops Friday night in western Minnesota and will expand east. Expect snow much of Saturday for central Minnesota into western Wisconsin, mostly wrapping up by evening.
Some members crossed the aisle to shake hands and to hug one another as they came into session. And they cheered and whistled as Secretary of State Steve Simon announced that the House had the votes it needed to get to work. In its first official act, the House elected Republican Rep. Lisa Demuth the new House speaker on a 67-65 vote.
Construction on George Floyd Square is facing a setback as Minneapolis City Council members voted Thursday to table a redesign plan for the intersection and instead consider making it a pedestrian-only plaza, despite property owner opposition to that plan.

🏥 New behavioral health clinic focusing on rural communities opens doors in Mankato. About 80 percent of Minnesota counties are considered mental health service shortage areas. Only 5 percent of counselors practice in rural settings and only 2 percent practice in areas considered highly isolated rural settings.
🏭 Honeywell, one of the few remaining U.S. industrial conglomerates, will split into three companies. Honeywell was headquartered in Minneapolis for decades until a 1999 merger. It plans to separate its automation and aerospace technologies businesses following similar actions by companies like General Electric.
