WEATHER

☀️ Friday will be just slightly cooler with highs in the low 80s in southern Minnesota, but it will be noticeably less muggy. The day should be mostly dry.
☔ Saturday will be warm with highs near 80, but the next storm system will develop showers late Saturday or Sunday and into Monday. Get the latest weather news on Updraft.

Questions around financial oversight shadow Byron Schools ahead of multi-million dollar referendum

In two months voters in the Byron School District will decide whether to approve a $1.9 million dollar a year referendum for the next decade. The request comes after a turbulent few months at the district.

Minnesota Indian Women’s Resource Center celebrates 40 years

Since its founding, the nonprofit has expanded its offerings with services and programs such as support groups, family services and housing assistance. The center’s mission is to empower Native women and their families.

🚨 9 Minnesota prison workers exposed to unknown substances have been hospitalized. The Minnesota Correctional Facility-Stillwater in Bayport was put under lockdown as officials raced to assess how far the substances may have spread throughout the prison.
💉 What to know about getting the flu shot. The vaccine is readily available at Minnesota pharmacies, health care clinics and local health departments beginning in September. The CDC recommends being vaccinated by the end of October.
🏈 The unbeaten Vikings and Texans have each been bringing the quarterback pressure. Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold is fifth in the league in passer rating in a strong start to his reset season. The Vikings are undefeated, fueled by the league’s second-best sack rate
📹 Video: Six months after a fire burned it down, 19 Bar in Minneapolis is recovering and planning its reopening. The bar has been closed since March 22, when a recycling truck hit a utility pole that fell on the building’s gas supply and sparked a fire.
👨🏻‍⚖️ State asks judge to pause ruling that struck down North Dakota’s abortion ban. The state filed a motion for a stay pending appeal on Wednesday, and intends to appeal the ruling to the North Dakota Supreme Court, saying the case “presents serious, difficult and new legal issues.”
