🥶 It’s a chilly start for most early Monday. Afternoon highs will warm up into the 60s in northeast Minnesota to the low to mid 70s in the southwest.  

☀️ The remainder of the week will be continued sunny and dry with above-normal temperatures, mostly in the 70s. Some in southern Minnesota may even reach 80 by Thursday and Friday.

Minnesota Poll: Harris up on Trump but not by much as Democratic enthusiasm spikes

While the poll shows most Minnesotans have made up their minds about the presidential race, about 8 percent say they don’t support either Trump or Harris or haven’t made up their minds. Self-described independents were the biggest chunk of undecideds.
 
To grow Minnesota’s future forests, an effort to collect seeds takes root

There’s a surge of interest to plant millions more trees in Minnesota, but there’s a problem — there aren’t nearly enough seeds to plant those trees. Work is underway to change that.
🌊 Minnesotans affected by flood damage have until Oct. 27 to apply for federal relief. FEMA has extended the application deadline for Minnesotans who suffered from flood damages last spring wanting disaster assistance to late October.

🚒 St. Cloud asks voters to approve $43.5 million for new fire station. Fire Chief Matthew Love said the new station will add firefighters and equipment to a growing part of the city, which includes St. Cloud Tech High School and new housing developments.

🏀 Napheesa Collier scores 38 as Lynx fend off Mercury 102-95 in playoff opener. Minnesota won three of four games — all by double digits — against Phoenix during the regular season. The Lynx will host Game 2 at the Target Center on Wednesday. Phoenix will host Game 3 on Thursday if necessary.

📚 As Minnesota’s Muslim community grows, old Qurans overwhelm mosques. Minnesota imams say strict rules regarding the disposal of the Muslim holy book, along with the state’s environmental regulations, have led to a pileup of old and damaged books at local mosques.

🚨 Two young men killed, three others injured early Saturday in downtown Minneapolis shooting.  The other three victims include a 23-year-old woman, a 17-year-old girl and a 16-year-old girl who suffered “apparent non-life-threatening injuries."

🚗 High speeds and drunk drivers add up to unsafe roads in Minnesota. It’s been a dangerous year on Minnesota’s roads. More than 320 people have died on Minnesota roads as of Sept. 20. During the same time frame last year, that number was 286.

🏈  Vikings stay undefeated, beating Texans 34-7. Sam Darnold matched his career high with four touchdown passes, and the undefeated Minnesota Vikings used another dominant performance on defense to trounce C.J. Stroud and the Houston Texans 34-7 on Sunday.

🏀 Lynx coach Reeve named Coach of the Year, Napheesa Collier picked as Defensive Player. Minnesota coach Cheryl Reeve was named AP Coach of the Year on Sunday. A'ja Wilson and Caitlin Clark headlined the AP All-WNBA first team. They were joined by Napheesa Collier, Breanna Stewart and Alyssa Thomas.

Suzanne Pearl leads their Minnesota programs and said it comes down to a “broken” business model.
